Why a paid leaderboard beats another directory
Free directories die the same way every time: submission costs nothing, so everything gets submitted, and within months the list is mostly abandoned side projects.
A price changes the incentive. Spending real money on a rank means the product behind it is live, funded and being actively promoted. The board self-cleans without moderators.
It is also honest. Most 'top 10 tools' lists are paid placements pretending to be editorial. Here the payment is the whole point, printed next to every entry.
For founders the maths is simple. Compare the cost of a rank to what the same spend buys on paid social, then compare the click-through you get from a page people actually browse out of curiosity.
The bidding itself is the marketing. Positions move, people check back, and every outbid is a small story worth sharing.
